What to expect?
During the initial consultation, a full Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnosis will be taken. The practitioner will then inform you of the most suitable therapy for your presenting complaint. Treatment will follow accordingly. This initial consultation lasts approximately 1 hour.
Cost of the Initial consultation: €40
Follow-up consultations only include the treatment itself, after assessing the progress of the complaint. For this reason, these only last about 30 minutes.
Cost of the Follow-up consultations: €30
If the treatment method chosen is acupuncture, the practitioner will insert hair thin needles in your body, where appropriate – these locations are called “acupuncture points”. One can in some cases expect a mild pinching or tingling sensation at needle insertion, but in the majority of cases, the needles are then quickly “forgotten”. The needles’ purpose being to appropriately direct your Qi, these are the sensations you can expect to experience during, or sometimes shortly after the treatment (and not necessarily in the direct proximity of the inserted needle): light tingling, some numbness, sensations of warmth or cold, heaviness, etc. You might not experience any of these sensations at all, or not at every treatment, depending on your sensitivity to the Qi movement in your own body, and how strongly you have reacted to the treatment.
If the treatment method chosen is Cupping, due to the way the bamboo cups are drawing blood to the surface of the body where applied, there will be circles with a colour ranging from light pink, to bright red, to dark purple -called “cupping marks”- after the cups are removed. The shade depends of how severe the stagnation which is being relieved was. These marks usually disappear within a few days, up to a week.
